Why should you choose to learn a German language?
Learning a language is entering a complex dynamic dimension, that much we all know. Now, learning a German language is creating a multidimensional being out of you. Why? Well because it goes beyond grammar checking or vocabulary memorisation. It is acquiring top-nudge communication skills to enhance your experiences given that when you study a foreign language, you also come close to its Culture and way of constructing thought processes, you learn a new way of decoding human relations, and how to recognise different ways of understanding the world in which we live. The subtleties hidden behind humour, for example, may be the hardest thing to incorporate from a foreign language.
Every language is like an island, and they are all interconnected underwater with channels that help them build their characteristics as well as remain connected to one another. History shows that, at some point, a language that has influenced the next —or a dialect which has giving birth to another—, received something in turn by reciprocity. Languages are living entities that help us organise our perceptions and habilitate us to share them with others. Every description is made possible by language acquisition and learning other forms of coding adds flavour to our life. When you learn a German language, all which it belongs to becomes available to you. It is a way of traveling and visiting other aspects of our living dimension. Once your mind starts working German patterns and orders, your whole being changes entirely, adding perspective to your life and the way you want to live it. Thus, by mastering a foreign language you have access to its history, tradition, literature and even legal system from a closer point of observance, and the more you learn, the more you prepare yourself to deal with everyday situations, everywhere you go. Have you ever watched a subtitled movie and thought you have missed out on the joke, yet you see everyone around laughing? That is how much a joke loses its meaning in translation. If you have, and you agree with this, is because you can stand on both sides of the river and see how the other side looks.
GENERAL LINGUISTIC LEVELS
Can exploit a comprehensive and reliable mastery of a very wide range of language to formulate
thoughts precisely, give emphasis, differentiate and eliminate ambiguity . . . No signs of having to
restrict what he/she wants to say.
C1 Can select an appropriate formulation from a broad range of language to express him/herself clearly,
without having to restrict what he/she wants to say.
Can express him/herself clearly and without much sign of having to restrict what he/she wants to say.
B2 Has a sufficient range of language to be able to give clear descriptions, express viewpoints and develop
arguments without much conspicuous searching for words, using some complex sentence forms to do so.
Has a sufficient range of language to describe unpredictable situations, explain the main points in an idea or problem with reasonable precision and express thoughts on abstract or cultural topics such as music and films.
Has enough language to get by, with sufficient vocabulary to express him/herself with some hesitation
and circumlocutions on topics such as family, hobbies and interests, work, travel, and current events, but
lexical limitations cause repetition and even difficulty with formulation at times.
Has a repertoire of basic language which enables him/her to deal with everyday situations with predictable content, though he/she will generally have to compromise the message and search for words.
Can produce brief everyday expressions to satisfy simple needs of a concrete type: personal
details, daily routines, wants and needs, requests for information.
Can use basic sentence patterns and communicate with memorised phrases, groups of a few words and
formulae about themselves and other people, what they do, places, possessions etc.
Has a limited repertoire of short memorised phrases covering predictable survival situations; frequent
breakdowns and misunderstandings occur in non-routine situations.
A1 Has a very basic range of simple expressions about personal details and needs of a concrete type.
